Day 6

Scripture to Read: John 13 & 14

In John 13 the Lord’s Supper has just concluded, then Jesus washes the disciples’ feet. Jesus then predicts Peter’s betrayal. As John 14 begins Jesus tries to clarify that He is God. Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father. Jesus says, “9 Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I Am? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father! So why are you asking Me to show Him to you? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak are not My own, but My Father who lives in Me does His work through Me.” (NLT). This could not be more clear that Jesus is God. But then Jesus says in John 14:12 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.” The first time I read this, as a new believer, it scared me because God had never used me to heal someone or to raise someone from the dead. My question to God was, “What greater works than these would I ever do?” God showed me that when I proclaim Him to someone who is lost that they are spiritually dead. But, if they surrender to Christ as Lord they are given life, through Christ, for eternity. This is the greatest work of all.

Day 7

There are many commands from our Lord throughout His Word. We are commanded to obey every one of them, but we can only do that by surrendering to Him and allowing His Spirit to be in complete control of our lives. It’s through Him, living in us, that we are able to fulfill His Word. Today, in John 15:12-17, our Lord Jesus Christ is very clear...
