Day 5

Scripture to Read: Romans 8:35–36

Though we did not get a chance to examine the rest of Romans 8:34 yesterday, we need to make sure we do not miss what God gives us in Christ. Did you see that Christ is at the right hand of God, interceding with the Father for us? After last week's devotions on prayer, it’s awesome to know that Christ is at the right hand of the Father, also praying on our behalf. Let’s just pause here for a moment and consider that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit continually intercede for us. WOW!!! God’s Word is so encouraging, and we must continually thank Him for revealing His incredible Truth to us. So, with all of that in mind, God says in Romans 8:35–36, Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” The good news to the question in Romans 8:35 is that nothing can separate us from God’s love! God had Paul quote Psalm 44:22, a reminder that this wicked world will always persecute God’s children. The Old Testament saints were frequently put to death or exposed to the persecutions of men. God makes it clear that the same is true for all New Testament saints, that many have been, and will be, persecuted and put to death for the sake of Christ and His Gospel.

Challenge & Application

· What good news did God teach you about His love, even as you face the wickedness this world seeks to bring on you? · What are you doing to be prepared for the persecutions you face because of your faith in Christ?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We just closed out an incredible week, focusing on our prayer lives. It’s awesome to know that God desires such sweet fellowship with us and then He, through the Holy Spirit, prays with, for, and through us. So, as we read Romans 8:28, God tells us, And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to tho...

Day 2

God loves us as His children, and to know He chose us before we ever knew Him is incredibly humbling. Today God tells us in Romans 8:29–30, For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and th...

Day 3

We will unpack some incredible questions over the next few days. But the good news is that God gives us even better answers to these questions. Today we read Romans 8:31–32, What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also ...

Day 4

God wants us, as His children, to walk confidently, knowing who we are in Him. The spiritual forces of darkness love to whisper lies into our minds, for they do not want us to walk in victory but defeat. Think of the lies we have believed in the past, some of which include, “You’re not worthy to be called God’s child,” “you’re not really forg...

Day 6

Sometimes, as we walk through God’s Word, God gives us such a rich Truth that we need to stop and meditate on it to fully grasp what God is saying. Today God gives us this in Romans 8:37, But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. So, at this point, we have to take into account what God is referring to as He s...

Day 7

We have more good news today from God’s Word, and it’s worth memorizing. We memorize God’s Word because our minds can easily get focused on the darkness in this world. As we memorize God’s Word, He uses His Word to encourage, transform, and renew our minds. We read in Romans 8:38–39, For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels...
