Scripture to Read: Romans 8:17
We come to the close of another incredible week in God’s Word. This week, God has taught us much about His desire for deep intimate fellowship with us each day. He has reminded us that we are His children and that He is our loving Heavenly Daddy. As we close out today, we read in Romans 8:17, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. God is telling us that because we are His children, that also makes us heirs of Him and His glory. When we receive an inheritance in this life, it is most often tied to land, possessions, money, or a combination of them. But God tells us that we, as His children, inherit far greater riches from Him. God promised Abraham in Genesis 12:3, Genesis 15:5, and Genesis 22:18 that He would multiply his descendants beyond the stars of the sky and the sands on the seashore. We are Abraham's descendants, grafted into God's family through our Lord Jesus Christ. That makes us heirs according to the hope of eternal life and heirs of salvation (Titus 3:7, Hebrews 1:14). As heirs of God, we are no longer slaves; but we are His children, as we have seen all this week (Galatians 4:7). We must get our eyes off this world's temporary pleasures and focus on the everlasting riches of God’s kindness through Christ our Lord, for we are heirs indeed.

· What did God teach you today about the inheritance He gives you as His child?
· How are you guarding your heart against focusing on the temporary pleasure of this life but instead focusing on what God gives?
