Day 3

Scripture to Read: Romans 8:14

Today, we have the privilege of examining more great news about who we are in Christ. We know God has told us that we must willingly be led daily by His Holy Spirit in us. But let’s make sure we don’t miss what God says next in Romans 8:14, that all those led by His Spirit are sons of God. At first glance, we might read right past God’s powerful Truth that He calls all Christians His children. Being God’s child carries this incredible security, knowing we have been adopted by God forever. Many Scriptures affirm that we are God’s Children, so let’s look at just a few. In John 1:12, God’s Word tells us that for everyone who receives Christ, He gives them the right to become God’s children. God had Paul write this in 2 Corinthians 6:18, And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me. God had Paul quote from several Old Testament passages, including Isaiah 43:6 and Hosea 1:10. These Old Testament Scriptures remind us that God has always desired us to be His children and to walk in fellowship with Him daily. God had Paul reiterate the Truth, that we are His children through Christ, in Galatians 3:26–27, For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Through Christ, we have become God’s children, so rest in this glorious Truth and walk in obedience to your Father.

Challenge & Application

· Why is it so important for all Christians to understand that we are God’s children? · How are you living your life differently, knowing God calls you His child and that you belong to His family?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week, we will only focus on four verses in Romans 8. Though we are only examining four verses, we will see that God’s powerful Truth will speak volumes to each one of us. Last week, God spoke to us about our “flesh” and His Spirit dwelling in us. We continue in that same arena, but God gives us more about our adoption through Christ our ...

Day 2

Yesterday, we left off with a good understanding of what it means to be led by God’s Holy Spirit in us. But there is still more to learn, so let’s examine Galatians 5:17–18. God tells us in Galatians 5:17–18, For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that...

Day 4

OK, so we know that we are God’s children and that God has confirmed this Truth throughout His Word. But God wants us also to know that because we’re His children, we have some extraordinary privileges. In Romans 8:15, God’s Word says, For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adopt...

Day 5

Today, we’re going to look a little deeper at Romans 8:15. We need to make sure we understand what God means when He says that we’ve been given a spirit of adoption as Christians. We also need to examine closely that God provides every Christian the privilege of calling Him “Abba, Father.” We only find “Abba” used three times in the entire Bi...

Day 6

All of us, as Christians, have gone through times of doubting whether we belong to God or not. Our doubts often arise when we have gotten out of deep fellowship with our Lord and His Word. When our lives get too busy for deep fellowship with our Lord and filling our minds and hearts with His Word, we open ourselves to the enemy's lies. The sp...

Day 7

We come to the close of another incredible week in God’s Word. This week, God has taught us much about His desire for deep intimate fellowship with us each day. He has reminded us that we are His children and that He is our loving Heavenly Daddy. As we close out today, we read in Romans 8:17, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fell...
