Scripture to Read: Romans 6:12–14
With all God has shown us this week, hopefully, we are all walking in a more intimate fellowship with Him. God unfolds more of His rich Truth in Romans 6:12–14, “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, 13 and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” God wants us to know that sin should no longer have any rule over us. Notice that God tells us not to let sin control us, which means we have the power through Christ not to sin. God even tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” So, we have all we need to escape every temptation we face. We must continually offer ourselves to God as obedient children and walk in the fullness of His Truth. Every part of our body belongs to Him (1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians 6:19–20), so we must honor Him and walk in His righteousness, which we have through Christ because He lives in us through His Spirit.
Challenge & Application
What has God given us through Christ, and how are we to live since He does live in us?
How are you choosing to escape the temptations you face each day, and how can you help others to do the same?
