Day 4

Scripture to Read: Romans 1:12

As God had used Paul to share with the believers in Rome how he had been encouraged by their faith, then God had Paul mention how he hoped to help establish them through the preaching of God’s Word. Then, in Romans 1:12, God had Paul lay out the purpose for helping get the believers established in God’s Truth. God had Paul write, that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine. Paul’s goal was not on how the believers in Rome could serve him. Paul had been encouraged by their example, and he wanted to bring them God’s Truth to encourage them. The encouragement would be mutual, and Paul desired that they would bring comfort to each other’s faith. Right here lies a great truth about having strong Christian friendships. We should bring mutual encouragement to one another as followers of Christ. In the Christian life, our spiritual growth is not meant to be done in isolation but in the context of a strong Christian community, which is the local church. The church does not exist for us to be served, but to serve our Lord by helping and encouraging each other. We must take time each week to invest in a church leader or a friend in our community group at church. God wants to use us to encourage each other so we grow in our spiritual life. We will both be mutually encouraged in our faith when we do this, and our Lord will be exalted through our obedience.

Day 1

As we begin our devotions this week, we read in Romans 1:8 an incredible word of encouragement given to the Christians in Rome. God had led Paul to write to the Christians in Rome about how much he thanked God through our Lord Jesus Christ for every one of them. Paul gave this incredible thanks to God for these believers in Rome because their...

Day 2

Today we see how God led Paul to continue to encourage the believers in Rome by how he continually prayed for them. As you read God's Word, ask our Lord not to let you miss what He said through Paul to these early believers in Romans 1:9–10, For God, whom I serve in my spirit in the preaching of the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how ...

As God continued to use Paul to encourage the believers in Rome, we read that Paul wanted to provide them with something. In Romans 1:11, we read, …th...

So, today we see that God had Paul share with the believers in Rome that he had been planning to visit them but had been prevented from getting there. There are times when God lays on our hearts certain desires to serve Hi...

Day 6

Yesterday, God showed us that His call on Paul’s life included Gentiles. God had made His call on Paul’s life clear to Ananias when God told Ananias this about Paul in Acts 9:15–16: “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; 16 for I will show him how much he must suffer f...

Day 7

As God used Paul to write His Word, God allowed Paul to share his excitement and passion about sharing the gospel with the Gentiles who had not heard of Christ yet. As we finish today, God also had Paul share his enthusiasm for preaching the good news to those who were already Christians. That is why Paul wrote this in Romans 1:15: So, for my...
