Scripture to Read: Romans 14:11–12
As we close out this week, we have seen how God challenged us on what we hold our brothers and sisters in Christ accountable for and why we should not judge them. Today, God reminds us of another one of His incredible Truths in Romans 14:11–12, “For it is written, ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall give praise to God.’ 12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.” God had Paul quote Isaiah 45:23, knowing that one day, every knee will bow before Him, every tongue will praise Him, and everyone will give an account of themselves to Him. God also had Paul quote Isaiah 45:23 to the Philippian church in Philippians 2:9–11, “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” God is God and we’re accountable to Him. He would rather everyone choose to confess Christ as Lord this side of heaven (see Ezekiel 18:23, Ezekiel 18:32, John 3:17, Titus 2:11, 2 Peter 3:9) but many will not confess Him until it's too late. Let’s confess Him as often as possible so many will come to know Him as we do.
Challenge & Application
· How has your life changed this week with all God has taught you about judging and not judging?
· How are you confessing Christ as Lord each day, and how does that impact your life and the lives of those around you?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
