Scripture to Read: Romans 14:5–6
God is challenging us as His children to guard against judging each other over issues that are not that important. God had Paul write in Romans 14:5–6, “One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.” God had Paul discuss the issue of worship. God’s Word says that some people regard one day as more holy than other days when worshipping our Lord. But God also had Paul add that some look at each day as the same as every other day. We know as Christians that we set aside Sundays as the day that all believers gather together to worship our Lord corporately. Some Christians probably believe Sunday is a more holy day than all the rest. But there are also Christians who see Sunday as no more holy than any other day, but they worship our Lord the same every day. According to God’s Word, neither one is wrong. God says, "Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.” God wants us to set in our hearts that whatever day(s) we choose to worship Him, we do it with a thankful heart. In Romans 14:6, God affirms that the day(s) we consider holy, we do it to honor Him.
