Day 3

Scripture to Read: Romans 12:6–8

God taught us yesterday that we belong to the body of Christ and that we have a specific purpose within His body. So, God had Paul continue to define our role within the body of Christ in Romans 12:6–8, Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly: if prophecy, according to the proportion of his faith; 7 if service, in his serving; or he who teaches, in his teaching; 8 or he who exhorts, in his exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. God reminds us that our gifts are different and the only reason we have these gifts is because of God’s grace. So, we have salvation due to God’s grace and God has given us these gifts because of His grace. Since we have these gifts, we are to use them in the way God designed them to be used. God had Paul give some examples of some of the gifts He gives, but this list is definitely not complete. God wants us to understand that the gifts He’s given us are to be used so that His body is healthy and growing. Through Christ, and His Spirit in us, His body (His church, in all its different parts) is joined together as one. Then, when each part is working correctly, Christ’s body grows and matures as it should and we flourish as His children through His love, which He’s freely given us so that we give His love away.

Challenge & Application

· Why has God given so many different gifts within His body? · How are you using the gifts God has given to you, and are you fulfilling His purpose for you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God teaches, trains, admonishes, feeds, grows, challenges, and disciplines (and so much more) all of us through His rich Word. That is why God wants us in His Word and His Word in us every day of our lives. God says in Romans 12:3, For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought ...

Day 2

Yesterday, we learned that God is the One who gave us the faith we have so that we can trust Him in all areas of our lives. Though we have all been given the same faith by God, we do not all have the same responsibilities in our service to our Lord. We know we’ve all been called to “make disciples” according to Matthew 28:18–20. But even in “...

Day 4

God gives us some great commands today that we must practice daily to shine brightly for Him. First, God tells us to be sure our love is real. There are too many “pretenders” in this world who use others for their selfish motives. God tells us that we should never be that kind of person. God also tells us to hate what is evil and to cling tig...

Day 5

God uses His beautiful Truth to challenge us each new day. As we read, study, and memorize God’s Truth, we can see how our fleshly nature always comes against God’s Truth. We know our flesh will buck God and His Truth because God tells us in Galatians 5:17, For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; fo...

Day 6

God continues to challenge us in how we treat others, no matter how they have treated us. As we have already discussed this week, we know our flesh is ugly, selfish, conceited, never satisfied, always thinks it is right, and so on. God has commanded us to continually crucify our flesh along with all of its desires. So, as we continue to unpac...

Day 7

We finish today with Romans 12:19–21. God taught us yesterday that we’re never to pay back evil, no matter what we think someone else deserves. In Romans 12:19, God says, Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. God used the word “never” aga...
