Scripture to Read: Romans 12:3
God teaches, trains, admonishes, feeds, grows, challenges, and disciplines (and so much more) all of us through His rich Word. That is why God wants us in His Word and His Word in us every day of our lives. God says in Romans 12:3, For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. God has given all of us the fullness of His grace as an incredible gift. So, as God led Paul to write, God challenges us, based on the richness of His grace, not to think too highly of ourselves. As followers of Christ, any one of us could fall into the trap of thinking we deserve God’s grace, mercy, kindness, love, forgiveness, and so on when we don’t deserve any of it. We must have “sound judgment,” which means we have a healthy fear/respect of God and know we are, and have, nothing without Him. Then God opens our eyes to His Truth that even our faith is a gift from Him. God has given each person a “measure of faith” so we can trust Him. Not everyone takes the faith they have been provided by God and places their faith in God and His Word. Too many people put their faith in themselves and the things of this world and they miss Christ. Grow in your faith in Christ and remember, God gave it to you.
Challenge & Application
· We have been given so much by our Heavenly Father, so why does He remind us not to think too highly of ourselves?
· Knowing now that even your faith is a gift from God, how are you striving to grow in your faith in Christ?
