Day 3

Scripture to Read: Nehemiah 4:6

As we saw in yesterday’s devotion, Nehemiah did not get into a war of words with Sanballat and Tobiah. Nehemiah prayed with perseverance and trusted God would battle for him and the Jews who were working with him. Imagine how different many social media posts would be if every Christian followed the example God has given us through Nehemiah. Christians would no longer enter the wrong battlefield to wage a battle of words with those who are anti-Christian. Instead, each Christian would pray John 16:8-11 and know that God, through His Holy Spirit, is working on the lost souls who are anti-Christian. Christians would pray Colossians 4:3-6 for themselves and trust God to open up opportunities to share His Truth and not their own opinions. Christians would pray Ephesians 6:19-20 asking God for His Words and His boldness to share His Truth so that lost souls have the opportunity to be changed for all eternity. The entire landscape of social media would be radically changed by Christians who are walking in obedience to God and His Word. We read today, in Nehemiah 4:6, how Nehemiah and the rest of the Jews stayed on task and continued building the wall. May we not get sidetracked by anything the spiritual forces of darkness throw at us. We must stay the course God has set before us to walk in. We each must be about the work God has for each of us to do each day we are here on earth (Ephesians 2:10).

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about dealing with the distractions the enemy tries to put in our way of serving God each day? 2. How will you choose to overcome the distractions you face today and each day from here on?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Sanballat is r...

Day 5

When we face spiritual battles each day, we know that we are to pray. God has lovingly shown us, through Nehemiah, that Nehemiah began the work God had for him to do. Nehemiah had Sanballat and Tobiah start mocking him and the other laborers, and so Nehemiah prayed and got back to doing what God called him to do. Then Sanballat and Tobiah had...
