Scripture to Read: Matthew 4:23, Matthew 9:35, Mark 1:14-15
When we read these different Scripture verses today, we see that Jesus was all about proclaiming the gospel. To proclaim something means to announce or declare that something is really important to us. Jesus definitely considered the Gospel important, because Gospel means Good News. Times have not changed that much in 2000 plus years. We still see the horrible consequences of sin, all around us. We need more Good News in our lives, and the Good News of the Gospel is that Jesus gave His life to pay the penalty for our sin, so that we would become righteous before our God and King. That’s what God did for us, through our Lord Jesus Christ. We see this clearly in 2 Corinthians 5:21 which says, “For our sake He (God the Father) made Him (God the Son, Jesus Christ) to be sin who (God the Son, Jesus Christ) knew no sin, so that in Him (God the Son, Jesus Christ) we might become the righteousness of God.” The words in this verse that are in parenthesis are not actually in God’s Word. I added those words so we can be fully aware of what God the Father has done for us through Jesus Christ our Lord. This is Good News, therefore we, as believers, need to walk in the fullness of this Good News and be sure we are proclaiming this Good News to everyone we know.
