Scripture to Read: Isaiah 9:6
The beauty in Isaiah 9:6 is that it proclaims to Israel, and reminds us today, that our Messiah would come, and actually did come in human form. Jesus was, and is, 100% God, but Jesus was also 100% man and was even resurrected and then also ascended in His earthly shell. In order for Jesus to be our Perfect sacrifice, for our sins, He had to be completely human. Jesus had to face every temptation in His earthly form, just as we do, and yet never sin, to be our Perfect sacrifice (Hebrews 4:15). The complete fulfillment of the government resting on His shoulders will be fulfilled during the 1,000 year reign, when Jesus Christ will rule the earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 20:4-6, Psalm 72, Isaiah 2:1-4, Isaiah 11, Isaiah 65:1725, Zechariah 14:6-21). But, let us not forget, Christ is in charge now, for God the Father placed all things under His control (Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:20-22; Colossians 1:16-17). The fact that our Lord is “Wonderful” ought to cause us to ask ourselves why we do not live each day in the wonder of who He is. He is our life and our purpose and without Him the wonder of this life is gone. He is also “Counselor” which is a great reminder that we must seek Him and His Word for every situation in our lives. We’ll continue in Isaiah 9:6 tomorrow.
