Scripture to Read: Matthew 5:18
Jesus says in Matthew 5:18, “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” Remember, Jesus had just said that He came to fulfill God’s Law, and now He’s testifying that all of God’s Law will come to pass and be fulfilled. There have always been doubters of God and His Word. Today, God’s Word has been removed from the classroom and is no longer taught. In this lost world, and even in many churches, God’s Word is seen as merely a document that cannot be trusted. This lost world says that man has probably watered down God’s Word, or they have misinterpreted it over the last two thousand years. Also, most lost people are still asking the same question that the serpent asked Eve in Genesis 3:1, “Indeed, has God said…” and they fill in the blank space with what God did say, all the while questioning if God really said it or if it’s just some man's interpretation. But the incredible uniqueness of the Bible is that it was written over 1500 years (40 generations) by 40 different writers from all walks of life (king, rabbi, shepherd, tax collector, prime minister, political leader, cupbearer, fisherman, doctor, general and more) in all sorts of situations (peace, war, excited, traveling, wilderness, dungeon, palace, prison), in times of joy and desperation in three languages (Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic). Yet, it’s one story about our Creator God, who fully revealed Himself through Christ. God’s Word will be fulfilled, no matter what.
