Day 7

Scripture to Read: John 1:1-14

Many people in our world today still doubt whether Jesus is God in the flesh, the One True Messiah, the King of all kings, and the Lord of all lords. As we read John 1:1-14 today, God clearly tells us that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.” Jesus Christ is “the Word.” We know this because God had John write it again in Revelation 19:13, “He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.” Another Name for our Lord Jesus Christ is “The Word of God.” Christ has always been, as we see in John 1:2. Christ was not created by God the Father, but Christ has always existed with the Father. Christ is our Creator, for everything came into being through Christ. God had Paul repeat this, that Christ is Creator, in Colossians 1:16-17. To know that Christ is God is the foundation of our faith. If Christ were just “a god” and not “The God” then His sacrifice on the cross would carry no weight at all. Christ would just be another martyr who died for a cause. As we celebrate Christ, be sure and share His story with others for He changes everything.

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

This week is Christmas week, and it is a great time to celebrate our Lord Jesus Christ's birth with family and friends. God never wants us to forget how much He loves us. God proved that unfailing love for us when He came in the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ and gave His life to pay the full price for our sin. The fact that God chose to com...

Day 2

In yesterday’s devotion, we began to examine Joseph and Mary’s situation because Mary was pregnant. We must understand Jewish culture to understand the story. When a man and woman got engaged, it was as if they were already married. The groom would go and build a bridal suite connected to his father’s house. Once the bridal suite was finished...

Day 3

Today we read about the magi in Matthew 2. We do not know much about the magi and we are not sure how many visited our Lord as a child. Through tradition, because of the three gifts, many believe there were only three magi but there could have been many. God, in His sovereign work and will, led the magi to Bethlehem. The magi brought gifts: g...

Day 4

As we continue to examine Matthew 2, we read how God spoke to Joseph in a dream again and told him to take Mary and Jesus and move to Egypt (Matthew 2:14-15, So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt. 15 He remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken b...

Day 5

Today we celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. So, it’s appropriate to examine Luke 1 as Gabriel foretold to Mary about the birth of our Lord. Many theologians believe that Mary was only 13 or 14 years of age and Joseph was around 17 to 18 years of age when all of this happened. During Christ's time, the culture of the Jews was for yo...

Day 6

Even though it is the day after Christmas, Luke 2:1-21 is an excellent reminder of how God the Father orchestrated the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. God chose two young people, Mary and Joseph, to be Jesus’ earthly mom and dad. God made sure that a census was going to be taken during the days that Mary was about to give birth so that Joseph...
