Scripture to Read: John 3:18–21
Since Christ did not come to judge the world but to save the world through His death, burial, and resurrection, it’s no wonder why God judges those who choose His judgment over His salvation. Jesus said in John 3:18–21, “He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.” We know that believing in Christ is choosing to surrender to Him and be delivered from judgment. We also know that Jesus is the Light, but people choose to love the darkness instead of the Light. We, as Christians, must never forget that Christ rescued us from the darkness (John 8:12, John 12:46) and that without Christ, the only thing we have is the darkness (Ephesians 5:8–9). Since Christ is Light, we must choose to walk in the Light every day and share the Light with everyone we know. By walking in the Light, our lives reveal Christ to those around us. Let’s shine for Him and pray we see more souls delivered from this dark world.
Challenge & Application
• Why do people love the darkness over the Light?
• How can we shine brightly for our Lord each day? (See John 3:21.)
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
