Scripture to Read: John 3:16–17
What many people miss when it comes to Christ our Lord is what Jesus shared about Himself in John 3:17, “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” Jesus was sent to save the world and not to judge it. So many lost people over the last two thousand years have only seen God as a Judge who sends people to hell, but God the Father sent God the Son to set this lost world free from the bondage of sin. God the Father sent Jesus so we could know Him and have life through Him. Jesus even says in His prayer to the Father in John 17:3, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” Jesus came to reveal the Father so everyone could know Him and know Christ, Who is One with the Father and Spirit. Jesus came to seek every lost soul, as we read in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” We must be incredibly thankful because we cannot and will not seek Christ on our own. Our flesh only hungers for what this world offers us. But the Good News is that when we finally turned to Christ and saw the fullness of His grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, and everything else He offers, we knew we must surrender to Him and walk in the light and life of His Truth.
