Day 4

Scripture to Read: John 1:40–41

The Apostle John is God’s instrument as He uses John to write the Gospel of John. We read in John 1:40–41, “One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He *found first his own brother Simon and *said to him, ‘We have found the Messiah’ (which translated means Christ).” In the Gospel of John, we are first introduced to Andrew, who was on fire and ready to tell others that he had found the One True Messiah. Some of us remember well when we first surrendered to Christ as Lord. We were on fire for Him and wanted to tell everyone about Him. For some, that fire has died down due to the cares and worries of this life. But for many of us, that fire burns hotter today than it did when we first met Christ as our Lord. We are still passionately pursuing our intimacy with Him and His Word and praying for and sharing with those who still do not know Him. Now, back to Andrew, for we see that he wanted to make sure his brother Simon Peter knew who he had found. Andrew told Simon Peter, “We have found the Messiah.” Andrew shared the Good News of the Gospel of Christ. What a great reminder to us, as followers of Christ, that we must tell others, “We have found the Messiah.” People have a right to know that “…there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Challenge & Application

• Why was Andrew so pumped and ready to tell Peter Who he had found? • How pumped and ready should we be each day to tell others that we have found the One True Messiah?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only One worthy of following. Though there are many people in this life that we look up to, no one is more worthy of following than Christ our Lord. To be Christ’s disciple means to be one of His followers. Disciple means “follower, believer, student, protege," so we must choose to follow the One True Lamb of God....

Day 2

The two men who started following Jesus were immediately questioned by Jesus. We read in John 1:38, “And Jesus turned and saw them following, and *said to them, ‘What do you seek?’ They said to Him, ‘Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?’” Jesus challenged these two young men to examine their hearts and ask themselves...

Jesus knew these two men who had been disciples of John the Baptist were ready to follow Him. Jesus’ response to these two men is still the same today for anyone who is willing to surrender to Him as Lord. We read in John 1:39, “He *said to them, ‘Come, and you will see.’ So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him tha...

Andrew went to Simon Peter and told him about Jesus and then he went one step further. We read in John 1:42, “He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, ‘You are Simon the son of John; you shall be called Cephas’ (whi...

Jesus continued to call His disciples to Himself. We read in John 1:43–46, The next day He purposed to go into Galilee, and He *found Philip. And Jesus *said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip *found Nathanael and *said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and also ...

Day 7

Nathanael made the decision to follow Phillip to meet Jesus. We read what happened in John 47–51, Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fi...
