Day 4

Scripture to Read: John 10:10

Many people think that John 10:10 is just about Satan, but in light of what Jesus was teaching, He was referring to those being used by Satan and the demonic forces of darkness. As Jesus taught His followers, He said in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” The Pharisees were the thieves in Jesus’ day, but we need to understand that there are false teachers today used by Satan and the demonic forces, still seeking to destroy people's lives. Suppose we don’t passionately pursue our intimacy with our Heavenly Father through Christ our Lord and read, study, and memorize His precious Word; in that case, we are setting ourselves up to be derailed by the spiritual forces of darkness. Our security is found in Christ, but the enemy would love to steal our joy and peace, kill our reputations as followers of Christ, and destroy the fruitfulness of our lives and the ministries God has called us to serve in. The good news is that as we pursue Christ and His Word, we walk in the abundant life that we have in Christ. We must understand that the abundant life Christ promises does not mean a life free from tests, trials, or tribulations (James 1:2–4, 1 Peter 4:12–16), but it does mean walking in complete joy, peace, and contentment and finding satisfaction knowing we’re serving our Lord for His glory, honor, and praise. What a blessing knowing God is actively working in our lives (Philippians 2:13).

Challenge & Application

• What did God teach you today about what the enemy wants to do to your life? • What did you learn about the abundant life that Christ gives us as His children?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Jesus often taught using different illustrations and parables, and sometimes, His disciples and others who may have been listening understood what Jesus was saying. Other times, though, the illustration was too hard to understand. Remember in John 9 how horribly the religious leaders treated the healed blind man and his parents. Jesus wanted ...

Jesus said in John 10:3–5, “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 A stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know ...

Day 3

Jesus’ disciples listened to Jesus, but according to John 10:6, This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them. Jesus’ followers did not get the point that Jesus made to them. Jesus treated His followers with incredible kindness and grace and therefore said in Joh...

Day 5

Jesus had already talked about those who were His under-shepherds (1 Peter 5:1–4), but now He reminds His followers that He is the Good Shepherd. Jesus said in John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” Jesus is the Only One whose blood cleanses us from all our sins because He was and is our perf...

Day 6

Jesus also mentions “other sheep,” as He said in John 10:16–18, “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd. 17 For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again. 18 No one has taken it away from...

Day 7

When Jesus’s Word is shared, we are guaranteed two things, the first being that lives will be changed because His Word is that powerful, and the second being that others will be antagonistic toward His Word because His Word cuts to the heart (Hebrews 4:12). As stated in John 10:19–21, “A division occurred again among the Jews because of thes...
