Scripture to Read: Isaiah 43:3-5
God reminds the people of Israel in Isaiah 43:3 that He is the Lord their God and their Savior. God is also our Lord and God, and He is our mighty Savior through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have so much more than the Israelites had, for God now dwells in us and not in a building made by man (1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). God fellowships with us, through His Holy Spirit whom He poured out on us (Romans 5:5, Acts 2:33, Acts 10:45, Galatians 4:6, Titus 3:5-6) when we surrendered to Him as our God and King. Again, we know this is God’s Word, and He is speaking to the nation of Israel, but He is reminding us of some very precious truths as well. Isaiah 43:4 God uses the terms “precious” and “honored” in describing His chosen nation. Since we are His children, He sees us the same way, “precious” and “honored.” We may not see ourselves this way because we often focus too much on our past, our weaknesses, faults, and failures. God wants us to see ourselves through His Truth in His Word. When we finally begin to see ourselves through the Truth of God’s Word and not our feelings, then we can be set free (John 8:31-32) from the lies we’ve believed about ourselves. Finally, God tells the Israelites not to fear for He will redeem them out of slavery, which is what God has done for us through Christ (Galatians 3:13-14).
