Scripture to Read: Isaiah 43:1-2
When God speaks, we need to listen. Of course, God speaks to us every day through His Holy Spirit who lives in us. God also speaks to us every day through His Word, as long as we are getting into His Word. As we read Isaiah 43:1-2, God speaks to the children of Israel, but His Truth also speaks to us today. God reminds us that He is our Creator, the One who formed us. Then God reminds us not to fear because He has redeemed us. Of course, our Lord Jesus Christ redeemed us from the power of sin and the penalty of sin, but we must choose to walk in Him. The gift God the Father has given to us, through our Lord Jesus Christ, should be overwhelming to us. Then God confirms for us that He has called us by name. Knowing God calls us His own is incredibly humbling and reassuring. God affirms this for us in 1 John 3:1 “See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are,” and in John 1:12, Romans 8:16, 1 John 3:2, and many other Scriptures. We need to be encouraged, knowing we are His children and knowing He is our Protector. In Isaiah 43:2 God assures us He is always with us, especially through the tests and trials of this life. The beauty we have in God is that He lives in us through His Holy Spirit.
