Day 4

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 9:11-14

God’s Word is so rich and feeds our souls if we choose to allow His Word into our minds and hearts. God reminds us today that our Lord Jesus Christ came, as our Great High Priest, and that Christ alone is over all the good things to come. God is the giver of all good things as God declares in James 1:17, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.” Christ gave us the greatest gift, our salvation, setting us free from the bondage and punishment of sin. When Christ ascended to heaven, He entered the perfect tabernacle. God’s tabernacle was not made with human hands. God’s tabernacle is not like anything created here on earth, which can decay and fade away. Christ was able to enter this perfect tabernacle because He shed His blood as the ultimate sacrifice. The Levitical priests brought before God the Father the blood of goats, bulls, rams, doves, etc…but Christ gave His own blood. So, when Christ entered the Holy of Holies in heaven, He secured the redemption for everyone who surrenders to Him as Lord and Savior for all eternity. God led the writer of Hebrews to ask, and I paraphrase, “If the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity, how much more does the blood of Christ purify us completely so we can worship the living God?” (Hebrews 9:13-14) We have no excuse for not worshipping Him today.

Challenge & Application

1. How are you worshipping the living God each new day? 2. Who needs to hear that Christ is the ultimate sacrifice who paid the price for their sin? When will you tell them this Good News?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

For the sake of the Jewish Christians, who this letter was first written to, God reminds them that even the first covenant had standards that the nation of Israel must follow. Knowing the first covenant had regulations reminds us, too, that God has always required His children to follow Him and His ways. The description of what was to go in t...

Day 2

As we know, the first description of the tabernacle is in Exodus 25, 26, and 27. But, there are about 50 chapters in the Old Testament that give reference to and a description of the tabernacle. The tabernacle was the center of Jewish worship under the old covenant. We know from Hebrews 8:5 that the design of the tabernacle and its worship wa...

Day 3

A good reminder today is that the book of Hebrews was first written to Jewish Christians who were considering going back to their old way of life, under the Levitical priestly system of worship. We need this reminder because God, in Hebrews 9:8-10, is reminding these Jewish Christians of some important facts to consider. First, God the Spirit...

Day 5

Today we see in Hebrews 9:15 the words, “For this reason…” God is telling us because Christ is our Great High Priest, the Perfect Sacrifice to pay for ALL our sin, and because Christ entered the perfect Holy of Holies, that He is our Perfect Mediator between us and God the Father. Jesus is continually praying on our behalf. Also, as our Media...

Day 6

God wants us to know the significance of the blood sacrifice because blood has always been a part of the healing/cleansing of sin. As we learned in yesterday’s devotion, a covenant is like a modern-day “last will and testament’” in that a covenant does not go into effect until there is a death. Today, as we start in Hebrews 9:22, we see that ...

Day 7

It’s incredible what God teaches us as we read, study, and memorize His Word. God continues to repeat His Truths again and again so that we are without excuse for knowing the fullness of Him and His Word. We have the beautiful reminder in Hebrews 9:24 that Christ is in the real Holy of Holies and appears before the Father on our behalf. Now, ...
