Day 1

Scripture to Read: Hebrews 9:1-5

For the sake of the Jewish Christians, who this letter was first written to, God reminds them that even the first covenant had standards that the nation of Israel must follow. Knowing the first covenant had regulations reminds us, too, that God has always required His children to follow Him and His ways. The description of what was to go in the tabernacle is in Exodus 25, 26, and 27. God gave precise instructions, and so what we read today in Hebrews 9:1-5 is a very brief description of those same things that were in the tabernacle. Why is the description of these things in the tabernacle so important? Why would God set forth all of these regulations? Because God wanted the earthly tabernacle to be a copy of the true tabernacle in heaven. God deserves our complete worship and praise and for the Israelites, who had been delivered out of Egypt, God wanted to make sure they worshipped Him properly and that the Israelites knew He was not “a” god but the One True God of all creation. God does not have the writer of Hebrews make any reference to the courtyard, which contained the bronze altar for sacrifices and the bronze basin. Why? Because God wanted the focus to be on the tabernacle itself. God will compare and contrast the earthly tabernacle with the true tabernacle in heaven, where Jesus entered into the very presence of God the Father. We must worship God daily and never lose sight that Christ opened up the door for us to do so.

Challenge & Application

1. Knowing all that Christ has done for us to worship God, daily, how do you worship God daily and stay in right fellowship with Him? 2. Who will you help this week who seems to be struggling with daily worship of God Almighty?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we know, the first description of the tabernacle is in Exodus 25, 26, and 27. But, there are about 50 chapters in the Old Testament that give reference to and a description of the tabernacle. The tabernacle was the center of Jewish worship under the old covenant. We know from Hebrews 8:5 that the design of the tabernacle and its worship wa...

Day 3

A good reminder today is that the book of Hebrews was first written to Jewish Christians who were considering going back to their old way of life, under the Levitical priestly system of worship. We need this reminder because God, in Hebrews 9:8-10, is reminding these Jewish Christians of some important facts to consider. First, God the Spirit...

Day 4

God’s Word is so rich and feeds our souls if we choose to allow His Word into our minds and hearts. God reminds us today that our Lord Jesus Christ came, as our Great High Priest, and that Christ alone is over all the good things to come. God is the giver of all good things as God declares in James 1:17, “Every good thing given and every perf...

Day 5

Today we see in Hebrews 9:15 the words, “For this reason…” God is telling us because Christ is our Great High Priest, the Perfect Sacrifice to pay for ALL our sin, and because Christ entered the perfect Holy of Holies, that He is our Perfect Mediator between us and God the Father. Jesus is continually praying on our behalf. Also, as our Media...

Day 6

God wants us to know the significance of the blood sacrifice because blood has always been a part of the healing/cleansing of sin. As we learned in yesterday’s devotion, a covenant is like a modern-day “last will and testament’” in that a covenant does not go into effect until there is a death. Today, as we start in Hebrews 9:22, we see that ...

Day 7

It’s incredible what God teaches us as we read, study, and memorize His Word. God continues to repeat His Truths again and again so that we are without excuse for knowing the fullness of Him and His Word. We have the beautiful reminder in Hebrews 9:24 that Christ is in the real Holy of Holies and appears before the Father on our behalf. Now, ...
