Scripture to Read: Hebrews 10:26-29
God gives a warning in Hebrews 10:26-29
to examine our lifestyle, especially if we claim to know
Christ. God makes it clear that anyone who has heard
the Good News of Christ but refuses to surrender to
Christ and instead willfully chooses to live in sin habitually,
that there is not any other kind of sacrifice that
will cover their sin. For those who habitually live in sin,
with zero repentance, have the terrifying judgment of
God coming to them. Remember, God’s judgment of sin
was completely laid on our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore,
anyone who refuses to follow Christ, they are ultimately
saying, “I’m willing to receive God’s judgment myself
and not accept the gift of Christ’s sacrifice as a payment
for the judgment of my sin.” Every person who refuses
Christ as Lord and Savior will be consumed by the
wrath of God’s eternal fire. Now, this is truly terrifying,
but God does not want us to come to Him out of fear,
but He wants us to come to Him with a repentant heart
and willfully follow Him out of an incredible thankful
heart for all He’s done for us through Christ. God even
reminds us, in Hebrews 10:28, that anyone who willfully
refused to obey the Law of Moses, which God gave to
Moses, was put to death based on the testimony of two
or three witnesses. If God’s judgment was that harsh in
the Old Testament, think of how much worse His judgment
will be for those who refuse Christ.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about His judgment
on sin?
2. Who will you share these truths with this week so
they may know of all Christ has done for them to
deliver them from God the Father’s judgment?
