Scripture to Read: Exodus 6:2–9
Today, we continue with God’s response to Moses in Exodus 6:2–13. God reminded Moses in Exodus 6:2, “I am the Lord.” In reminding Moses of His great name (Yahweh), God confirmed that He made covenants and kept them. God reminded Moses that He would fulfill His promise. God also told Moses He had made Himself known to the patriarchs by the same Name but that they did not see the promise come to fruition and that Moses and the Israelites would see it come to pass. Then God told Moses, in Exodus 6:6–8, to tell the Israelites, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the Lord.’” God left no doubt about Who He was and what He planned to do, but we read in Exodus 6:9, “So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage.” The Israelites missed what God said because of their circumstances.
Challenge & Application
· How have you allowed your circumstances, at times, to cause you to miss all God has for you?
· God wants us to remember His promises, knowing He will bring them all to pass—so, how are you walking in them each day?
