Day 1

Scripture to Read: Exodus 28:1–14

God gave Moses all the details for building His Tabernacle and the articles to go inside and outside the Tabernacle. God had appointed Moses, Aaron, and Aaron’s sons as the priests who would serve in the courtyard and the Tabernacle. But the priests needed the proper clothing and the necessary details for how to serve and worship our Lord in His Tabernacle. God wanted holy garments made for Aaron and his sons (Exodus 28:1–2) “for glory and for beauty.” So, the clothing God wanted to be made for them would be for His glory and to magnify His beauty and the beauty of worshipping Him. Then, God told Moses in Exodus 28:3, “You shall speak to all the skillful persons whom I have endowed with the spirit of wisdom, that they make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister as priest to Me.” God is so AWESOME and clearly shows us that He gave certain people the wisdom and talents they needed to make the necessary clothing for Aaron and his sons. God also made sure the sons of Israel would be remembered, as He told Moses in Exodus 28:12, “You shall put the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, as stones of memorial for the sons of Israel, and Aaron shall bear their names before the Lord on his two shoulders for a memorial.” God wanted the Israelites always to remember where they came from and how He chose them to be His people. God wants us to remember who we are in Him also, as noted in 1 Peter 2:9–10.

Challenge & Application

· Why were holy garments to be made for Aaron and his sons as priests chosen by God to serve Him? · How has God clothed us through Christ, and what does He say about us as His children? (For help, read 1 Peter 2:9–10.)
