Scripture to Read: Acts 2:24
We are only going to focus on one verse today because of the incredible message contained in this verse. As God used Peter to preach to the people in Jerusalem, he continued in Acts 2:24 by sharing, “But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.” God the Father raised up our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead through His Holy Spirit. God’s Word testifies of this miracle in an additional twenty-five verses in the New Testament alone (Matthew 28:6, Mark 16:6, Luke 24:6, Acts 2:32, Acts 3:15, Acts 3:26, Acts 4:10, Acts 5:30, Acts 10:40, Acts 13:30, Acts 13:33–34, Acts 13:37, Acts 17:31, Romans 4:24, Romans 6:4, Romans 8:11, Romans 10:9, 1 Corinthians 6:14, 1 Corinthians 15:15, 2 Corinthians 4:14, Galatians 1:1, Ephesians 1:20, Colossians 2:12, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, Hebrews 13:20, 1 Peter 1:21). Take the time to read each one of these verses as an incredible encouragement to the power, majesty, and glory of God’s handiwork in our Lord and Savior. The hope for every Christian is found in Christ’s resurrection. Christ defeating death reminds us that though our physical body will die one day, through Christ, we have eternal life and will live forever with the God of all creation. Lastly, don’t miss the fact that it was “impossible” for death to hold our Lord.
