Day 2

Scripture to Read: Acts 2:5–13

In Acts 2, God came in the power of His Holy Spirit to set free everyone enslaved to sin. God fulfilled His promise to send a Helper (John 14:16, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:7) so all His children could live fully for Him. Through His Holy Spirit, God gives every soul rest (Matthew 11:29) who surrenders to Christ as Lord. God does miraculous works through His children when we walk in submission to His Holy Spirit in us. In Acts 2:5–13, God gives us a glimpse of how a lost world reacts when they see God at work but do not know it’s Him working. As we saw yesterday, it was Pentecost, so Jews came from everywhere to celebrate this festival. In His sovereign will, God brought the world to one place (Acts 2:5) where He revealed Himself to the crowd through His Holy Spirit in His disciples. The “violent rushing wind” (Acts 2:2) was heard, and the crowd came running because they wanted to know what caused the sound. God knows how to draw a crowd, and He loves to use His children to display Himself. God gave the 120 disciples the ability to speak in languages they had never studied (Acts 2:6), and the crowd was amazed (Acts 2:7–9) that “Galileans” were able to speak their languages. Some of the crowd wondered what it meant (Acts 2:12), but others mocked (Acts 2:13) and said the disciples were drunk. Due to their hardened hearts, mockers will constantly ridicule God’s works.

Challenge & Application

God’s Holy Spirit lives in all believers, so how are you seeing God’s miraculous power displayed through you? What, if anything, needs to happen in your life for you not to miss God’s handiwork in and through you each day?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Peter ...

Peter told the people that he and the rest of the disciples of Christ were filled with God’s Holy Spirit. God used Peter to shar...

Day 6

God loves to reveal to us how His Word is one continuous story about Him as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As we continue to walk through Acts 2, today we focus on the rest of the sermon God had Peter preach to the people in Jerusalem. Then the people asked Peter and the other apostles this awesome questio...
