Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 4:19-22
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of our study of 1 & 2 Timothy. God has taught us so much about our fellowship with Him and how we must passionately pursue Him and His Word daily. He has taught us much about facing the tough times this life hands us each day. He has warned us about believers who will disappoint us and turn their backs on us because they will grieve and quench His Spirit in them. God has also encouraged us to flee from the things of this world, knowing that nothing this world has to offer us will ever satisfy us. God has made it clear we are to pursue His characteristics within us and as we do, to guard against our fleshly desires. God had Paul close out 2 Timothy 4:19-22 with personal greetings to believers from Paul and greetings from believers to Timothy. What incredible words of encouragement to read the names of believers who were seeking to grow in their walk with our Lord. Also, as all of these names are listed, it is awesome to know that God considered them worthy to be mentioned in His Holy Word. The great news is that God considers us worthy to be called His own (John 1:12; Romans 8:16; 1 John 3:1-2; 1 John 3:10). Just as God had Paul write these names in 2 Timothy 4:19-21, God has written our names in the Lambs Book of Life because we belong to Him (Revelation 3:5; Revelation 21:25-27).
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you about how important you are to Him?
2. How is your life being lived out differently knowing that your name is written in the Lambs Book of Life?
