Scripture to Read: 2 Timothy 4:18
As we consider the life we now live, we have to understand that God is in charge, always has been and always will be. We will face tests, trials, and tribulation in this life. We should never be surprised when tough times come because God promised us that we would face those tough times as a follower of His (John 15:18-19; John 16:33; John 17:14; Acts 14:22; James 1:2-4 1 John 3:13). As God used Paul to write much of the New Testament, most of the letters God led Paul to write were written from prison. We may not face prison here in the USA because of our walk with Christ. But many of our brothers and sisters in Christ, in other parts of the world, have been imprisoned because of being a Christian. The Good News that God led Paul to write down in 2 Timothy 4:18 is that the Lord would deliver Paul and rescue him from every evil attack against him. God will one day rescue every believer from all of the evil in this world as well. We know that this is not our home and that our true home is to be with our Lord for all eternity. Our hope is in Him and the power of His resurrection and the fact that He “will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself” (Philippians 3:21).
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about what to expect from this world because you’re a Christian? Also, what do you have to look forward to because of Christ in you?
2. How are you overcoming this world each day, and how are you living for Christ knowing this is not your home?
