Day 1

Scripture to Read: 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Prayer is an incredible privilege for us as followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer is our opportunity to talk to our Heavenly Father. As we pray, we are joining God the Son and God the Spirit in the presence of God the Father as they are already praying on our behalf. We know God the Son and God the Spirit are interceding for us because God shares this truth with us in Romans 8:26-27, Romans 8:34, and in Hebrews 7:25. Today we see in 2 Thessalonians 3:1 that God led Paul to ask the believers in Thessalonica to pray for him, Silvanus, Timothy, and all of the other believers serving with them. God, in the same way, wants us to pray for each other. Prayer reminds us of our need for God and on relying completely on Him in all areas of our lives. Prayer reminds us of the awesome provision we receive from God because every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). Prayer deepens our intimacy with God as we fellowship with Him. Prayer opens the door for us to experience the fullness of God’s peace as we lay our requests before Him (Philippians 4:6-7). The problem for many people is that the busyness of life has robbed them of the blessings awaiting them through passionate praying. We must choose to learn to pray, and we must choose to cut the things from our lives that are robbing us from our sweet fellowship with our Great God and King.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about your prayer life? 2. Who are you praying for today? Send them a text, email, or some other form of communication to let them know you’re praying for them.

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we learned yesterday, prayer is what we must choose to do each day of our lives. The beauty of prayer is that God opens the door for us to talk to Him about anything, and we can talk to Him anytime we choose. God is always listening and loves when we choose to fellowship with Him. God also lays out for us some things that we ought to pray ...

Day 3

God leads our lives each day because His Holy Spirit dwells in us. God never promised us that this life would be easy, or that we would never face persecution. God has told us throughout His Word that we should not be surprised when trials come (1 Peter 4:12) and that when those trials hit, we should consider them joy (James 1:2-4). Neverthel...

Day 4

When we consider the fact in 2 Thessalonians 3:2, that “not all have faith,” it is very sobering in the midst of all we have seen happen over the last few months. Consider how COVID-19 has affected those who do not have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Many have lived in fear and panic of the effects of COVID-19. Then we faced the outbursts of...

Day 5

We have so many beautiful promises from our God through His Word. God wants us knowing the fullness of His promises, but if we’re not spending time with Him and passionately pursuing His Word each day then we are going to miss the rich Truth’s He wants to share with us. The promise we read today in 2 Thessalonians 3:3 is that our Lord is fait...

Day 6

As you consider the people who have poured into your life spiritually, would you say they have confidence in the Lord concerning your walk with our Lord? Do these people who have taught you know, without a doubt, that you are doing and will continue to do what they taught you from our Lord and His Word? If not, why not? God teaches us today, ...

Day 7

Remember from the first two devotions this week that God had led Paul to encourage the believers in Thessalonica to pray for Paul, Silvanus, Timothy, and all other believers. Today we read in 2 Thessalonians 5:5 that God also led Paul to pray for the believers in Thessalonica. God led Paul to ask Him to lead the hearts of the Thessalonian bel...
