Day 5

Scripture to Read: 2 Thessalonians 2:8

One day all evil, all death and all sin will be ended, and we, as believers, will live in perfection with our Lord to worship and adore Him forever. When the lawless one is revealed, he will lead all the nations of the earth into one final and foolish battle against Israel. This is the Battle of Armageddon, as mentioned in Revelation 16:16. All the armies of the earth will come together to wage war against our Lord Jesus Christ. We read here in 2 Thessalonians 2:8 that the breath of Jesus’ mouth (this is the Word of God - Isaiah 11:4; Isaiah 30:28, 33; Job 4:9; Hebrews 4:12; Revelation 2:16; Revelation 19:15) and the brightness of our Lord’s coming will bring utter destruction of all His enemies. So, to be clear, Christ will appear in all His glory and splendor and by His appearance and the breath of His mouth He will destroy the antichrist and all his forces. Armageddon will probably be the shortest battle in history. The result from Armageddon will be a shameful defeat for all the nations who followed the antichrist. The Good News for every believer is that we are on the winning side, with our Lord Jesus Christ. When we consider that the very breath and appearance of our Lord will destroy all evil for all time, it is an incredibly sobering thought. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the KING of all kings and the LORD of all Lords, and He alone is worthy of our worship, praise, and obedience every day.

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about His power vs. the antichrist’s power? 2. How does what you have learned change the way you view God and view Satan?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

God had used Paul to teach the Thessalonian believers about the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, as referenced in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18. Today we read how God, through Paul, told the Thessalonian believers NOT to be “shaken in mind” (like to be suddenly frightened by something) nor to be “troubled” (an ongoing state of worry and anxi...

Day 2

God continues to confirm for us that certain things must happen before Christ returns. God lets us know that the apostasy (the great rebellion, the abandonment of the faith by professed Christians) comes first. Does this mean that Christians can lose their faith? The answer is, “No.” These professed Christians are people who claim to be Chris...

Day 3

We continue our look at the man of lawlessness, the son of destruction today. The man of lawlessness is going to demand that everyone worship him. Now, we as believers know that only God deserves to be worshipped as clearly stated in Matthew 4:10 and in Luke 4:8 “Jesus answered him, ‘It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and ser...

Day 4

As God led Paul in writing His Word, we see that God led Paul to refer to the fact that the believers in Thessalonica knew what restrained the antichrist for now. We must remember that when they were in Thessalonica, Paul and Silas were only there for a few short weeks (Acts 17:1-10). Biblical prophecy is incredibly important, and we must stu...

Day 6

God uses Paul to remind us that the antichrist will be doing the work of Satan. In other words, the antichrist will be Satan’s chosen man to use to do Satan’s work. Some believe that it will be Satan incarnate, just as Jesus was God incarnate on earth, but there is no evidence of that in Scripture. Since Satan is a fallen angel, we should nev...

Day 7

As we finish with 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12, we have seen clearly that the antichrist will pull off a massive deception on humanity. God tells us, through Paul, that the people who will be deceived by the antichrist are those who choose NOT to receive Christ’s love and be saved from their sin. God also led Paul to write this in 1 Timothy 4:1 “Bu...
