Scripture to Read: 2 Thessalonians 1:3
Giving thanks daily to our Lord ought to be a regular part of our prayer life. Giving thanks to others should also be a regular part of our life. As we read 2 Thessalonians 1:3, we find that God led Paul, Silas, and Timothy to express their thanks to God because the faith of the believers in Thessalonica was incredibly growing. These three men also were thanking God because the love that the Thessalonian believers had for one another was growing by leaps and bounds too. As we look at our own lives, we need to ask ourselves if we are thanking God daily for the transforming work we see Him accomplishing in us? Are we also thanking God for the work we see Him doing in our family members, friends, co-workers, and others that we know? We have been designed by God to have fellowship with Him and also to have fellowship with each other. Though COVID-19 has hindered our fellowship with each other, we still have the privilege of using phones and texting and calling, as well as using Zoom, FaceTime, and other forms of social media to connect. We even have the privilege of mailing handwritten notes of encouragement to one another. Just as God used Paul, Silas, and Timothy to let the believers in Thessalonica know how much they thanked God for them, we should be thanking God daily for all of the people He’s allowed us to invest in and also for those who have invested in us.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about being thankful?
2. Who will you call, text, write, etc… this week and let them know how thankful to God you are for them?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
