Scripture to Read: 1 Peter 2:1-3
Today in 1 Peter 2:1-3, God gives us what affections and attitudes we must die to and what we must walk in every day as Christians. As God led the Apostle Peter to write, we know from 1 Peter 1:25 that God's Word "remains forever. And this word is the good news that was preached to you." Because God gave us His living and abiding Word, we, as Christians, must choose to "put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander" (1 Peter 2:1). God also clarifies that because His Word has transformed our lives, our attitudes must be a clear reflection of His Truth in our lives. The new life every born-again believer has received should be displayed through our actions, attitudes, and affections. God also wants us to be like newborn babies, not that we act immature but like babies, that we long and hunger for God's Holy Word the same way a baby longs for and desires the pure milk of its mother. Our attitudes should no longer be about us but God and His Truth (Philippians 2:3-5). One last thing God mentions through Peter in 1 Peter 2:3, "if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good." Because we, as believers, have tasted the goodness of our Lord, we indeed should be living our lives differently than when we did not know Him. If you have not been hungering for God and His Word, then repent (turn back to God), confess your sin, and choose Him and His Word each day.

1. What does God teach us about our relationship with Him and our relationship with others?
2. How has your attitude toward others and your affections and appetite for God’s Word grown as a Christian?
