Day 1

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 9:19

When we consider all that Christ has done for us, it is overwhelmingly incredible. Jesus told us in John 8:31–32, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” We have been set free from the bondage to sin that we were once in. We have also been set free from being slaves to Satan. For God tells us in 2 Timothy 2:26 that lost people must “come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.” So, when we surrendered to Christ, we finally came to our senses and escaped from being captives to the devil. As God had Paul write, we read in 1 Corinthians 9:19, “For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may win more.” Paul knew the freedom he experienced through his relationship with Christ, but he chose to come alongside others and serve them willingly, hoping they would also come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. Being passionate about our fellowship with our Lord is one of the keys to growing in our walk with Him each day. However, we must also become passionate about serving others to fulfill God’s call on our lives to be His witnesses. Jesus told us in Acts 1:8, “…when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses…” It’s a command, not an option.

Challenge & Application

What all has our Lord set us free from? How has the freedom you have in Christ led you to a more passionate pursuit of Him, His Word, and sharing Him with others?

Day 2

God used Paul to share the gospel message with various groups of people. Over the next few days, we’ll examine the different groups of people to whom Paul took the opportunity to share the gospel. We read in 1 Corinthians 9:20, “To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law though no...

Day 3

The next group of people Paul shared the gospel of Christ with were the Gentiles. We read in 1 Corinthians 9:21, “to those who are without law, as without law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are without law.” Paul knew that the Gentiles did not seek favor from God by followin...

God had Paul mention one more group of people that he sought to share the gospel of Christ with. God had Paul record this in 1 Corinthians 9:22, “To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.” It’s interesting that Paul refers to a particular group of people as...

Day 6

Living a disciplined life is a major part of our walk with our Lord Jesus Christ. We read in 1 Corinthians 9:24–25, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. 25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a...

Day 7

God had Paul finish with this in 1 Corinthians 9:26–27: “Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; 27 but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.” God had Paul proclaim that he did not run his spiritual life wi...
