Day 1

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 5:1

Jesus came to earth as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. Therefore, when any believer willingly sins, it breaks God’s heart since sin is outright rebellion against our Lord. There was the sin of immorality that was lingering among the believers in Corinth. God had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 5:1: “It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife.” There was an unrepentant Christian within the body of believers in Corinth who was involved in sexual immorality. God even had Paul state that the type of sexual immorality taking place was something that even lost people in Corinth did not choose to participate in. A man was choosing to live in sin with what we can only assume was his stepmother since God’s Word refers to her as “his father’s wife.” Sexual immorality of any kind is sin, but lost people even looked down upon this particular sin. As Christians, we are capable of committing any sin if we choose to break fellowship with our Lord and willingly submit to the lusts of our flesh. We might think, “Oh, but I’d never commit that sin.” The minute we believe we are above committing certain sins, we’ve allowed pride to enter our hearts, and that’s a dangerous place to be. We must choose to be humble and know that apart from a passionate pursuit of our fellowship with our Lord and His Word, we are capable of any sin.

Challenge & Application

Why should we never get to the point where we think we’d never commit a certain sin? How are you guarding your heart from sins of any kind, and how are you passionately pursuing our Lord and His Word?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.” God had Paul tell them that they had to get rid of the old “yeast,” which meant they must rem...

God wanted the believers in Corinth to know how to appropriately celebrate as well, so He had Paul write this in 1 Corinthians 5:8: “Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor ...

Day 7

God had Paul explain that as a body of believers, they needed to continue to reach lost people, and as they did, they must associate with lost people to be able to reach lost people with the Gospel of Christ. But in contrast, they should not associate with Christians who willingly live a sinful lifestyle because those Christians are a hindran...
