Day 2

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 15:13–14

Since the Christians in Corinth doubted a bodily resurrection for Christians, God had Paul write the following in 1 Corinthians 15:13–14: “But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; 14 and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.” God had Paul lay out for the Christians in Corinth that if they did not believe that one day their body would be resurrected and glorified by God, then not even Christ was really raised by God the Father. The Christians in Corinth had been deceived by some false teaching. This deception had them thinking the wrong way. God had Paul challenge this deception, for if they were willing to deny the reality of their own bodily resurrection then how could they still choose to believe in the resurrection of Jesus? God had Paul show them how the resurrection of our Lord Jesus not only proved His own resurrection, but it also proved the principle of a bodily resurrection for every follower of Christ. But if there was no resurrection, then that meant that Christ was still dead, and if Christ was still dead, then everything Paul had preached to them was absolutely useless, worthless, and a complete waste of time. We must guard against any form of deception when it comes to God’s Word. God’s Word is authentic with zero mistakes and absolutely trustworthy. God does not want us to fall prey to any kind of false teaching—that is why we must read, study, memorize, and obey God’s Word daily.

Challenge & Application

Why is the resurrection of Christ more than enough proof that our bodies will be resurrected and glorified one day? How do we guard against false teachings of any kind?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them? 30 Why are we also in danger every hour? 31 I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in ...
