Day 1

Scripture to Read: 1 Corinthians 15:12

God used Paul to continue to answer the questions that the Christians in Corinth had asked Paul. The topic God had Paul focus on was the resurrection. We read in 1 Corinthians 15:12, “Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?” The Christians in Corinth had no problem believing in Christ’s resurrection because God had said through Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:11, “Whether then it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.” So, the Christians in Corinth believed in Christ and His resurrection. What they struggled with was believing that Christians would also live in resurrected bodies one day. They had probably been influenced by the Sadducees who did not believe in a resurrection from the dead for anyone. So, the Christians in Corinth believed we lived forever, but not in resurrected bodies. They struggled with believing in a life after death happening in glorified bodies like the glorified body of Christ after His resurrection. God does not want anyone to doubt what He has promised. We find God’s promise in Philippians 3:20–21, where He used Paul to confirm that we will one day have a glorified resurrected body; “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; 21 who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.”

Challenge & Application

God has the answers for our doubts, so, how has God answered some of your doubts over the years? How have you helped other Christians with doubts they have encountered and what Scriptures did you use to help them?

If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them? 30 Why are we also in danger every hour? 31 I affirm, brethren, by the boasting in you which I have in ...
