Day 7

Scripture to Read: Luke 1:50-56

As Mary continues in her praise and honor of our Lord, she recognizes God’s incredible mercy being offered to generation after generation. But, the only ones who get to experience the fullness of God’s mercy are those who fear Him. Why? Because only a surrendered life can receive the mercy of God. It’s not that God is not offering His mercy to everyone, because He most definitely is offering it to all. Until someone surrenders to Christ as Master, even though His mercy is being offered as a gift, the gift has not yet been received. Only those who fear God, have a deep reverence and respect for Him fully know and experience His mercy. Those who are proud, boastful, arrogant, God opposes (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5). God will only exalt those who willingly humble themselves before Him. When we humble ourselves, then Christ is glorified in us and through us. Everything we do and say brings honor to our King, and not to ourselves. God is also the one who fills our lives with what we need. He fills our hungry souls as we feed on His Word and are nourished by Him (Psalm 19:10; Psalm 119:103). God is our help, just as He has always been for His creation. God has laid out for us His promises for mankind, starting in Genesis, and provided for us our Redeemer. Just as Mary knew God had a purpose and plan for her, and willingly walked in it, so we must know and do as well.

Challenge & Application

It’s great to know God has a purpose and plan for each of us. How are you walking in His purpose and plan for you? Who will you talk to, this week, about how God has designed them for a relationship with Him?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

Gabriel, one of God’s archangels, has a message from God to deliver to Mary. This message occurred in the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy. Elizabeth was pregnant with John the Baptist. Gabriel was sent to a little city in Galilee called Nazareth. Nazareth was pretty unremarkable and is not even spoken of in the Old Testament. But Jesus w...

Day 2

Can you imagine an angel showing up at your place and saying, “Greetings, favored one!”? It’s no wonder Mary was perplexed (troubled). She kept wondering why she would be receiving such a greeting. Being called “favored one” should have calmed any fear Mary may have had, but we read in the next verse that Gabriel says, “Do not be afraid,” so ...

Day 3

Mary asks a great question to Gabriel. She asks how she is going to have a child when she’s still a virgin. This is a legitimate question since there had never been, nor will there ever be again, a pregnancy happen in a virgin. This must-have blown Mary’s mind, even to consider that she could get pregnant as a virgin. God uses Gabriel to expl...

Day 4

After hearing from Gabriel, Mary went to see her relative, Elizabeth. This would have been around an 80-100 mile trip. Mary had heard that God had done something miraculous for Elizabeth. Mary may have been thinking that Elizabeth would be the only one who would believe and understand her story. When Mary arrives, she greets Elizabeth, and wh...

Day 5

Elizabeth declares with a loud voice, “Blessed are you among women.” Indeed Mary was blessed, for she had chosen to believe God’s Word (Luke 1:44) from the archangel Gabriel. We, too, were “blessed” abundantly when we decided to believe God’s Truth of who Christ is, and we surrendered completely to Him. We were “blessed” to receive everything...

Day 6

As we read Luke 1:46-49, Mary begins by praising our Lord. Praise is what our Lord deserves, for He alone is God, Master, King, Lord. Praise is what every servant of our Lord should be doing daily. We praise God when we fully understand how awesome He is and also know all that He has done for us. Mary recognized as we read in verse 48 that sh...
