Day 7

Scripture to Read: Romans 8:4

We finish today with Romans 8:4, as we prepare our hearts for another day of corporate worship with other brothers and sisters in Christ. God’s Word feeds our souls and nourishes us so that we are strong in Him and walk in the strength of His might (Ephesians 6:10). We read in Romans 8:4, once more in the Amplified Version, so that the [righteous and just] requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not live our lives in the ways of the flesh [guided by worldliness and our sinful nature], but [live our lives] in the ways of the Spirit [guided by His power]. It’s incredible to know that Christ overcame sin for us so that God’s Law could be fulfilled in us through His Holy Spirit, who now lives in us. It’s also amazing to know that as we choose to walk in obedience to our Lord, we are guided by His Holy Spirit and filled with His incredible power (Acts 1:8) so that we can fulfill the works He has for us to do each day (Ephesians 2:10, Titus 2:14). Why would anyone choose anything other than Christ and His Word? Because this world is attractive. We can’t kid ourselves because the world does offer some cool stuff. The problem is that all of that cool stuff leaves us feeling empty, never satisfied, and always, always, always wanting more, more, and more (1 John 2:16). Put on Christ, pursue Him and His Word, not just daily, but throughout each day, and don’t miss all He gives us.

Challenge & Application

What did God speak to you today, and how will you live it and share it? What’s the one thing you’ve been struggling with, and what Scriptures are you memorizing in order to defeat it?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 1

We have an exciting week ahead as God reminds us of our great salvation through Christ our Lord. It’s easy for us, as Christians, to become numb to who God is, how powerful His Word is, and to who we are in Him through Christ. The numbness starts as we slowly get out of daily fellowship with God and not allow His Word to fill our minds and he...

Day 2

“Condemnation” is not a word we use very often in our regular conversations. Now, we will use, and we’ve heard, the term “condemn,” but the word “condemnation” is not as common. But we definitely know what it feels like to be condemned. As Christians, we are often way too quick to condemn others while missing the garbage we’ve allowed to cree...

Day 3

Today and tomorrow, we’re going to examine Romans 8:2, as God led Paul to write, For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. God has given us, as Christians, His Holy Spirit and as His Word says, He (the Holy Spirit) is the “Spirit of life.” God explains it this way in 1 Corinthians 15:...

Day 4

As we continue to examine Romans 8:2 today, God’s Word tells us that the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. Yet many Christians struggle with the reality of being set free from the power and even the penalty of sin through Christ. Why do so many Christians struggle with this incredible Truth of b...

Day 5

Let’s unpack, just a little more, the freedom Christ gives us from the power and penalty of sin. At the end of the devotion yesterday, we touched on the fact that it is our decision to walk in the freedom we have through Christ. In several places in His Word, God tells us how to walk in that freedom. One of those Scriptures is John 8:31–32, w...

Day 6

We have more Good News to walk through today. Through His incredible mercy, grace, and love, God the Father has done so much for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. To avoid missing anything from Romans 8:3, we’ll examine the Amplified Version of Romans 8:3 since this version explains the verse in a little more detail. God’s Word says, For what...
