Scripture to Read: Romans 8:1
“Condemnation” is not a word we use very often in our regular conversations. Now, we will use, and we’ve heard, the term “condemn,” but the word “condemnation” is not as common. But we definitely know what it feels like to be condemned. As Christians, we are often way too quick to condemn others while missing the garbage we’ve allowed to creep into our lives. God tells us how to biblically come alongside fallen brothers and sisters in Christ (Matthew 7:1–5, Galatians 6:1–2) but, sad to say, not many Christians abide in God's Truth. God gives us some incredibly great news today in Romans 8:1; Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. So, for everyone who has a relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, there is no guilty verdict for our sin and no punishment either. God does not condemn us, because Christ took all of God’s punishment for our sin so we could be free from God’s penalty and punishment of sin. So, why do we continue to punish ourselves when God tells us we’re set free? Because we don’t believe God’s Truth with all our hearts. We say we believe, but then we fall right back into our self-condemning actions and attitudes. The problem is not that we don’t understand the gospel. Our problem is that we don’t comprehend how completely the gospel transforms every area of our lives. God’s Truth is the solid foundation we are to stand on and when we don’t, we suffer the consequences of our unbelief.
