Scripture to Read: Romans 1:28
God loves every person He has created and those still yet to be created. God loves us so much that He chose us even before the world was created (Ephesians 1:4, 2 Thessalonians 2:13). As God, through Christ, laid down His life for us, He desires us to choose Him in the same way He has already chosen us. But as we continue to walk through Romans 1:18–32, we read the sad news today in Romans 1:28 how mankind has, over the centuries, chosen to reject God. God tells us this in Romans 1:28, And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper. Note, here is the third time we find God telling us He “gave them over.” This time, mankind is cast aside to their foolish thinking. We must remember that God knows the condition of every person's heart and soul. God knows when a person's heart and soul has become so hardened and calloused it is beyond repentance and that person, by their choice to continually reject God's love, has sealed their fate for all eternity. When any person has become so hardened that repentance is beyond them, God releases them completely to the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 4:17–19, 2 Timothy 2:26). These people do things that no one should ever do. What a great reminder for all believers to be busy sharing Christ and making disciples (Matthew 28:18–20).
Challenge & Application
· What is your role as a believer to help people hopefully never reach the point of being beyond repentance?
· How are you currently sharing Christ with the people in your life and loving them through their struggle to believe in Christ?
Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!
