Day 7

Scripture to Read: Romans 11:33–36

We are all preparing for corporate worship with other believers today. It’s always a precious time of fellowship with our Lord as we meet with other believers and honor and praise our King. As we finish Romans 11, God had Paul end with this in Romans 11:33–36, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! 34 For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? 35 Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? 36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.” What an incredible reminder that God’s wisdom and knowledge are so rich and abundant that we can never fully comprehend His wisdom and knowledge. God is making it clear that we can't understand His decisions and ways! God even had Isaiah pen this in Isaiah 55:8–9, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” God will carry out His will, purpose, and plans whether we fully understand them or not. It’s not that we have to know everything God is going to do, but we must trust Him that He will accomplish everything according to His perfect will. And we must choose to obey His plans according to His Word.

Day 1

A reminder, God finished Romans 10 with a loving rebuke for the nation of Israel in Romans 10:18–21. This helps us understand the opening question in Romans 11:1. God had Paul ask, “I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He?” God had Paul write this question knowing how our fleshly nature often goes to the extreme negative when we h...

Day 2

We must always be careful in examining God’s Truth. For instance, if we only examine Romans 11:7–8, we would think that God had only chosen a small portion of Israel and rejected the rest, but that is not true. So, God tells us in Romans 11:7 that Israel failed to obtain God’s grace because they tried to get it through their own works by tryi...

Day 3

As we learned yesterday, God used Israel’s hardened hearts to present Christ to the Gentiles. But God is not finished with the nation of Israel. If we’re not careful, we can fall into the trap of thinking unrepentant people will stay that way for life. However, though unrepentant at the moment, it does not mean there is no chance for repentan...

Day 4

God wants us to know that His choice to bring salvation to everyone is due to His great mercy and grace. As we have examined Romans 11, God has shown us His sovereign work on behalf of the Gentiles and Israel. Today, in Romans 11:17–24, God continues to confirm His work to set free both Gentiles and Jews. In verse 17, God lets us know that so...

Day 5

God wants us to know Him and His Truth. He never wants us to walk in darkness, especially regarding His Word. There are difficult things in God’s Word for us to comprehend. But God wants us to be good stewards of His Word so we rightly divide His Word. As we examine Romans 11:25–27, God tells us that He does not want us, as believers, to be u...

Day 6

We have talked about the mystery of God’s plan and as God led Paul to write, we continue to see the fullness of His plan in Romans 11. As we read Romans 11:28, we see, “From the standpoint of the gospel, the Jews [at present] are enemies [of God] for your sake [which is for your benefit], but from the standpoint of God’s choice [of the Jews a...
