Scripture to Read: Romans 11:25–27
God wants us to know Him and His Truth. He never wants us to walk in darkness, especially regarding His Word. There are difficult things in God’s Word for us to comprehend. But God wants us to be good stewards of His Word so we rightly divide His Word. As we examine Romans 11:25–27, God tells us that He does not want us, as believers, to be unaware of the mystery of His Word. God’s mystery is Christ. God revealed Christ throughout the Old Testament, though God’s plan was previously hidden. God’s Word says in 1 Peter 1:10–12, As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look. Another part of God’s hidden plan was a partial hardening of Israel’s heart so the total number of the Gentiles would be saved. Once that occurs, all Israel who surrenders to Christ as Lord will also be saved, as God’s Word prophesies in Isaiah 59:20–21 and Jeremiah 31:33–34. God’s plan may not make sense to us, but we can trust God though our knowledge is limited.
