Day 7

Scripture to Read: Revelation 2:24-29

We saw some of the severe consequences that can come from sin in yesterday’s devotion. But, even with those severe consequences our Lord continued to offer this church an opportunity for repentance (to turn away from their sinful ways to avoid such consequences). Again, this is our Lord’s rich mercy that He wants everyone to be able to experience fully. There are rewards and benefits for obeying our Lord and walking in righteousness. Jesus tells us in Revelation 2:24-25 that some in the church of Thyatira had not held to the teachings of this “Jezebel,” and He would not lay a burden of rebuke on them. Jesus also reminds those obedient believers to hold on tightly until He comes. We must hold fast to our fellowship with our Lord and His Word. We must not hold onto anything in this world for it will fade away and perish. Then we read in Revelation 2:26-27 the encouraging words that to those who conquer and keep His works until the end, the reward is “authority over the nations.” When Christ returns, there will be a time in which His followers will reign with Him in His millennial Kingdom. This will be a foretaste of the new heavens and new earth that will come at the end of His millennial reign, the greatest reward, Jesus Himself. Jesus tells us this in Revelation 2:28-29, “and I will give him the morning star. 29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Christ is the “morning star” (Revelation 22:16).

Challenge & Application

1. What did God teach you today about His mercy and the greatest gift that He has given us? 2. How are you going to share the greatest gift with others who still need a relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 5

We know that Jesus rebuked the church of Thyatira for allowing a false prophetess in the church. This is what the false prophetess was doing according to Revelation 2:20, “teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.” So, the believers in Thyatira were being led into sin ...
