Scripture to Read: Psalm 139:7–12
God’s Omnipresence is so hard for us to comprehend since it is impossible for any other part of His creation to be everywhere at the same time. With modern technology, we can at least get a glimpse, and it’s a minimal and minute glimpse, of what it looks like to be in many places at one time. Consider being on a Skype call with people from all over the world. Though we’re not physically in the same place, we can see and talk to each other through technology. But God is everywhere, all at the same time. The fullness of God, through His Spirit, lives in every follower of Christ (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). God does not give each Christian a portion of Himself, but He gives us all of Himself (2 Peter 1:3–4). So, as God led David to write Psalm 139:7–12, God had David give us a beautiful picture of God’s Omnipresence. We cannot hide from His Spirit/Presence, for no matter where we are, God is already there. God is so incredibly loving that He guides us each day in the paths He has for us (Psalm 23:2–3, Ephesians 2:10). We must willingly pursue our fellowship with Him and His Word so that we do not miss what He has for us each day. Then God used David to assure us that not even darkness has any effect on Him (Psalm 139:12, “Even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day.”) Let’s all be sure to enjoy His presence daily!
