Scripture to Read: Psalm 139:1–4
We know God is omnipresent and omniscient, but too often we live as if He is not. We quickly forget that He lives in us, as Christians, and that we never have to invite Him to be with us. As God led David to write Psalm 139, God filled David with His Spirit so that the words David wrote give us a beautiful reminder of God’s Omniscience and Omnipresence. God’s Word starts in Psalm 139:1–2, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.” God alone is the One who examines us and knows everything about each one of us. God even had David write that He pays attention even to the most minor details of our lives, like when we sit down or when we get up. God also pays attention to our thoughts, even when we feel distant from Him. Next, God had David write in Psalm 139:3–4, “You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it all.” Think about how often we travel from one place to another. Sometimes, especially on long trips, we'll pray, asking for God’s protection, but God is so intimate with us that He is constantly paying attention to our every move, even going to work, the store, or school. God even knows what we’ll say before we say it. He is that intimate with us and still loves us.
