Scripture to Read: Genesis 28:10-22
Today we finish with Jacob and we see how God’s plan to use Jacob is shared with Jacob. We’ve seen all week that God had promised Rebekah that the older son (Esau) would serve the younger son (Jacob). We’ve also seen the sinful decisions that Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau all made because they chose to submit to their fleshly desires and not submit to God. But today we read how God spoke to Jacob in a dream, and God said to Jacob, in Genesis 28:13-15, “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. 14 Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed. 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” WOW, despite Jacob’s sin, God was not going to allow His perfect will to be stopped, but God was going to bring His will forth through Jacob. God has chosen each one of us because of His great love for us. He has called us to make disciples to fulfill His perfect plan. Let’s be sure we are choosing to walk in His plan for us.
