Day 5

Scripture to Read: John 1:9–13

God continues to have John explain to us the beauty of Christ being our “true Light” in John 1:9. There is only one other Scripture where God has John mention Christ as the “true Light,” and we find it in 1 John 2:8. There is such a thing as a counterfeit light. We see this recorded in 2 Corinthians 11:13–14, For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Take note that “Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” So, we should not be surprised that God had John call Jesus the “true Light.” So, as we read John 1:9, we see that Christ came to enlighten every person. This is critical for us to understand because Satan, and the spiritual forces of darkness, seek to blind all people so that they will not see the “true Light.” God reveals this in 2 Corinthians 4:3–4, And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. God even says in John 1:10–11 that the people in Christ’s day did not know Him. Not even many of the Israelites knew Christ as King. But the Good News in John 1:12–13 is that everyone who believed became God’s children.

Challenge & Application

· Since Satan and all demons disguise themselves as angels of light, what must we do to guard against their deception? · How are you pursuing Christ as the “true Light,” and how are you shining the Light of Christ in you?

Don’t forget to pray using the A.C.T.S. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication) method!

Day 2

As we saw yesterday, and of course, as believers, we know God has always been, so He was in the beginning. God had John write, in John 1:2–3, He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him, nothing came into being that has come into being. Jesus, God the Son, was there because He’s God. Jesus is...

We know John the Baptist, by physical terms, was about six ...

Day 6

God gives us more Good News in John 1:14, And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. Our Lord Jesus Christ took on a fleshly shell so He could experience every temptation as we do, yet He never sinned (Hebrews 4:15). That’s why Christ was and is ...

We read, “John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’” 16 For of His fullness we have all receive...
