Scripture to Read: Hebrews 12:12-13
We know God lovingly disciplines all His
children as we read about in yesterday’s devotion. Today
God reminds us that if our hands are weak and tired, we
need to lift our hands, we need to get a new grip, and we
need to strengthen our hands. This is a direct quote from
Isaiah 35:3, which says, “Encourage the exhausted, and
strengthen the feeble.” We all have times of weakness in
our lives; times when the cares of this life seem to weigh
us down; times when we feel like we have nothing else to
give; times when life seems to be a little overwhelming.
God wants us to find our strength in Him, as He tells us in
Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the
strength of His might.” Our strength and might, for the
battles we face each day, are only found in our Lord Jesus
Christ. We cannot do this life in our strength; if we could,
God would not tell us to find our strength in Him. We
also see that we’re to help others who are going through
struggles. God tells us to help others in Romans 14:1;
Galatians 6:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:14; Romans 15:1 “Now
we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those
without strength and not just please ourselves.” Of course
there are more, but then God tells us to choose the right
path for life. We do this for ourselves and for others who
will follow us.
Challenge & Application
1. What did God teach you today about your strength
and about helping others?
2. Who will you come alongside this week and help
them, as well as lead them on the right path to follow?
